Learning from one another and developing individually –
with the CEE Association as your professional base

Coaching Experts Europe – united in the name of quality and professionalism

Our association was founded to give people guidance in times of a booming coaching industry. Countless coaches offer a variety of individual coaching services. This makes the market fragmented and difficult to understand. We want to reveal what coaching can really achieve and where the limits are. This also includes demystifying it to a certain extent. Of course, coaching is not a panacea or miracle cure, but it does help people to cope with everyday personal and professional life. When applied professionally, it can unleash unexpected personal strengths, insights and strategies.

Contact person for coaches and clients alike

The association is aimed at potential clients and interested parties who want to find out more about coaching or are looking for a suitable coach. CEE also sees itself as a service provider for coaches, trainers, teaching trainers and teaching coaches. We offer a platform on which certified colleagues can present themselves and their main areas of work and exchange ideas with each other. It is important to us that our members are committed to the CEE value guidelines. This is the only way we can ensure that our members follow a common ethical coaching philosophy. Because we are committed to integrity, professionalism and quality standards.

More about us – from key topics to membership and the board of directors

In the following, we will introduce you to the CEE and its values, goals and responsible persons. If you have any further questions about our association, please feel free to contact us at any time >.

Focus

The thematic focus of the association is on systemic job coaching, as the majority of our members are dedicated to the professional sector. They want to support people sustainably in gaining a foothold in the job market with a fulfilling job. In addition to job coaching, our members, most of whom are systemically trained, have achieved expert status through additional training, which enables them to provide passionate crisis and conflict coaching, family biography coaching, health coaching and resilience coaching, for example.

The three certification tasks of the CEE association

The certification of systemic coaches, expert coaches, master coaches or teaching coaches after appropriate training by CEE-certified training institutes/teaching coaches following successful testing with live coaching. Certification requires a corresponding training course of 24 days, for example. CEE-certified coaches become full members of the association after checking the admission requirements and paying the admission fee. Coaches who have completed coaching, trainer or other psychological training through other associations or institutions can become members of the association after submitting/checking the certificates/final documents and paying the admission fee. They will then be assigned to a coach level (Expert, Master) according to their training.

The association certifies coaching training courses. This means that our members who are trained as teaching trainers/coaches can offer training to become a systemic coach, expert coach, master coach or teaching coach/trainer by submitting a curriculum, which is checked by the board. The curriculum is certified by the association up to four weeks before the start of training by the CEE.

To ensure the quality of CEE coaches, they must undergo a recertification process every three years. This consists of a live coaching session organized by the CEE.

It is a matter of course for our members to pursue scientific research and teaching in the field of coaching and to take part in coaching-related further training events. The association itself offers further training for members and non-members.

Sustainability

The CEE’s value guidelines take the aspect of sustainability into account to a large extent. Sustainability has (long since) become an important criterion in personal life planning. More and more people attach importance to working in a professional environment that is characterized by sustainability. Family-friendly working hours, general appreciation, fair promotion opportunities and a functioning work-life balance are just some of the many buzzwords here. In addition, sustainability aspects also play a prominent role within the association and are taken into account in all processes and actions.

Examples of this are

  • Holistic work in a network with doctors, alternative practitioners, psychotherapists, lawyers and mediators
  • Regular public events on the topic of sustainability in the areas of work, ecology, economy, social affairs and culture
  • Participation in the planning and implementation of events – such as the > Sustainability Day in Münster
  • Participation in the International Summer Academy of the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU)
  • Project management for sustainability in the German Association for Neuro-Linguistic Programming (DVNLP), Berlin
  • Food and drinks offered at events are exclusively regional, seasonal and organic
  • Cooperation with a social-ecological universal bank
  • Electricity from independent green electricity and gas providers (environmental award winner 2013)
  • Office supplies from an environmental award-winning supplier

Award from the German Federal Government’s Sustainability Council

With “JOB.N – Sustainable Job Development”, CEE coaches Marita Bestvater and Uschi Abbenhaus launched a project in 2015 that focuses specifically on the topic of sustainability and career. Companies can seek advice here, as can people who want to reorient themselves professionally towards sustainability. In 2016, JOB.N was awarded the Werkstatt N quality seal by the German Council for Sustainable Development. Every year, the award is given to 100 pioneering ideas and projects that bring sustainable thinking and action to life in everyday life.

Board

In accordance with Section 8 of our association’s articles of association (current version dated 11.03.2015), the board of our coaching association consists of the 1st and 2nd chairpersons. The two members of the Executive Board are elected by the General Assembly for a term of five years. The Executive Board represents the association externally.

From the founding of the association in 2012 up to and including 2016, Marita Bestvater and Brigitte Backmann have held their positions on the Board in a responsible, collegial and sustainable manner.
Marita Bestvater was re-elected as 1st Chairwoman and Mechthild Batzke was elected 2nd Chairwoman at the Board elections in early 2017. Brigitte Backmann remains our valued honorary member.

Why should you join and/or support the CEE?

There are good reasons for CEE. Coaches find a practice-oriented, active and competent professional representation in CEE. We want to establish the profession of coach in society and the economy, improve the quality of coaching services in Europe and create ethical and qualitative standards. To this end, we also strive to join forces with other coaching associations.

The CEE is constantly working on defining the professional profile of the coach and making it transparent to clients what coaching is all about and how they can benefit from it. This self-definition also includes the differentiation from other forms of counseling with different objectives, which the CEE places alongside coaching in a non-judgmental way.

The CEE sees itself primarily as an active network consisting of real contacts between coaches. It is therefore particularly important to the CEE that its members personally exchange information on the topics of the coaching profession. This also includes the organization of events, congresses, trade fairs, specialist conferences and further training courses at which the association members report on their work experience as coaches, are informed about the further development of coaching techniques and methods (by internal and external speakers) and thus promote the CEE coach’s own development.

At CEE, quality is defined in particular by practical skills. The CEE therefore attaches great importance to CEE coaches regularly demonstrating these skills. This takes place in the regular recertifications with live tests, which are carried out by (in some cases external) examination committees. In this way, the CEE ensures that the quality of its members’ performance remains consistently high. The coach benefits from the testing through the qualified feedback from the examination board.

What does membership in the association look like?

The founding members of the association deliberately formed it as a registered association so that the members themselves can actively contribute to the high quality standards through committed cooperation. The members of the association can join together in working groups on a wide variety of topics, depending on their interests or inclinations. All work is carried out on a voluntary basis.

The following working groups are currently looking forward to new members:

  • CEE internal events (festive committee)
